Eight Penn State Wilkes-Barre student-athletes were named USCAA Academic All-Americans. To earn Academic All-American honors, the student-athlete must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Below is a list of these honorees. Congratulations to all of these student-athletes!

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre men's cross-country team made school and conference history on Saturday afternoon. The team won the first PSUAC team championship in school history and became the first school other than Penn College to win the championship since 2004.
The Lady Mountain Lions, under the leadership of new head coach Ron Strothers, have been preparing for the 2013-14 season. Strothers says, "This year's team is young with five freshmen on the squad. The team has been working hard so far and I am happy with their effort, we also return several upperclassmen that will be relied upon for leadership."
On Saturday, Penn State Wilkes-Barre's third-year Head Coach, Brian D. Stanchak, was honored by the PSUAC conference by being named Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. This season the men's team won the first PSUAC conference team championship in school history.
Penn State World Campus student Tyler Knabb of Reading will embark on a cycling journey Oct. 22 to raise funds for the 2014 Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. His 920-mile, eight-day cycling trip is in memory of his mother and friend who lost their battles with cancer.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre Cross Country headed to compete at the Luzerne County Community College meet on Saturday. In the women's race, Ashley Oliver finished third, while Emily Pszeniczny and Azalee McAlpine finished fourth and eighth overall. In the men's race, Jason Carey finished first, while Chris Monahan finished fourth, Dave Yunkunis sixth and Shane McCrory seventh. The team's next meet is at the PSUAC Championships next Saturday, October 19th, at Penn State Worthington-Scranton.
The Penn State Wilkes-Barre women's volleyball team (1-11) lost their match against Penn College with a final score of 3-0 on Thursday night. The Lady Mountain Lions host a quad match on Sunday starting at 11:00 a.m.
Junior Zachary Aciukewicz and senior Matthew Boozer were both honored at the PSUAC/USCAA National Championships on Tuesday afternoon for their success in the classroom. Zachary and Matthew were both named as USCAA Academic All-Americans. Congratulations to both student-athletes!
On Friday, October 4th, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Offices of Academic and Student Affairs welcomed the 2013-2014 Penn State University Humanities Laureate, Dr. Kenneth Womack.
