Wilkes-Barre Men Get Second Conference Win

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (2-4, 2-0 PSUAC) Men's Basketball Team overpowered Penn State New Kensington Friday evening and went on to win 89-68 in the ARB. Wilkes-Barre relied mostly on 3-pointers, drilling 18 of them, with senior Travis Dunlap leading the team with five. Ten different Mountain Lions scored for Wilkes-Barre, with four in double figures. Dunlap led his team with 15 points, junior Keith Johnson had 13, sophomore Drew Walker had 11, and junior Greg Cooper added 10. Johnson, Cooper, and Dunlap each shot a suburb 5-7 from the field.

Robinson Leads Mountain Lions to Win Over Schuylkill

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (3-3, 1-0 PSUAC) Women's Basketball team opened up conference play with a huge win against Penn State Schuylkill, downing the local Lady Lions 55-46. Freshman Jalicia Robinson led Wilkes-Barre with 19 points, and two other teammates scored in double digits to help bury the Schuylkill squad. Juniors Tiara Brathwaite and Tiffany-Denny Rochester both added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Brathwaite also contributed a game-high 15 rebounds.

Men's Basketball Opens Up Conference Play With a Win

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (1-4, 1-0 PSUAC) Men's Basketball team opened up conference play with its first win of the season against Penn State Schuylkill, defeating them by a score of 81-68. Sophomore Denzel Mensah was a perfect 7-7 from the field while leading his team to a team-high 20 points and pulling down 7 rebounds in only 21 minutes of action. Sophomore Drew Walker contributed 17 points of his own, drilling 3 three-pointers. Sophomore Bre'yan Jones was 5-7 (71%) from the field to contribute 10 points for the Mountain Lions.

Men's Basketball Loses to Division II Opponent

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (0-4) Men's Basketball team couldn't overcome a slow first half before losing to Division II Lock Haven Tuesday evening, 95-53, in the Thomas Fieldhouse. Sophomore Denzel Mensah had 18 points while shooting 6-13 from the field and 6-9 from the free throw line. Junior Greg Cooper added 12 points while shooting 50% from the field and 57% from the charity stripe in 19 minutes of play. Junior Keith Johnson added five assists.

Women's Basketball Loses to Wilkes University

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (2-3) Women's Basketball team lost a non-conference game against Wilkes University, falling 90-54. The Mountain Lions were led by freshmen Jalicia Robinson who had a strong game at point guard once again, scoring 22 points while adding nine rebounds and dishing out seven assists. The only other scoring in double figures was junior Tiaira Brathwaite who contributed with 11.

Men's Basketball Falls in the Lycoming Tournament

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (0-3) Men's Basketball team couldn't find that connection to pull out their first win in the Lycoming Tip-Off Tournament during the weekend. In Wilkes-Barre's first game of the tournament, they lost to a very strong Lycoming team, 88-45. Their second game, the consolation game, they lost to SUNY Old Westbury by a score of 97-53. Against Lycoming, the only scorer who reached double figures was sophomore Denzel Mensah. He led the Mountain Lions with scoring 14 points to go along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Women's Basketball Gets Back on Track with Win against Davis College

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre (2-2) Women's Basketball team kept the game interesting before finishing off Davis College, 65-62, in the last couple minutes to preserve the win, Thursday evening in the ARB. The Mountain Lions were led by the unstoppable junior Tiaira Brathwaite, who had a monster game tallying up 30 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Freshmen Jalicia Robinson added 8 assists and 7 steals while junior Tiffany Denny-Rochester added 13 rebounds.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre Hosts FBI Professional Seminar

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Administration of Justice department, teaming up with Dallas Township Police and the Luzerne County Police Association, hosted a training session on campus on November 8th discussing the topic of officer safety and survival. Tim Reid, a former FBI agent affiliated with the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division training program, was the featured instructor.

Leandri Earns All-American Honors at National Championships

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Cross Country team competed at the USCAA National Championships for the second consecutive year and the onlyntwo times in school history.  The women's race started the event off with 2011 and 2012 PSUAC Individual Women's Champion Alex Leandri and 2012 PSUAC All-Conference Team member Emily Pszeniczny competing.  Leandri made school history finishing second overall to earn Women's All-American honors with a time of 24:33 in the 6K race.  Pszeniczny finished 32nd out of the 169 runners competing in the women's race.
