Penn State Wilkes-Barre has appointed a head baseball coach for the 2023-24 season — and he is no stranger to the campus. A former student-athlete at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Jason McManus coached the baseball team from winter 2013 to spring 2016 and brings more than 18 years of experience to the Mountain Lions as returning head coach.
Steven Qarmout, who recently completed his first two years of study at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, has been accepted into a scholarship and leadership program at University Park. Qarmout also received a scholarship from a national forensics organization.

Penn State University Libraries presented its sixth annual "Undergraduate Research Award: Excellence in Information Literacy" honors at the end of the spring 2023 semester to 136 students at 20 undergraduate Penn State campuses.
Members of the community are invited to attend the 37th annual Arts at Hayfield Summer Arts Festival, which will be held on the campus of Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will feature more than 120 artisans, performers, crafters and food vendors from across Pennsylvania and will take place rain or shine.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Scranton came together for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders’ STEM School Days at PNC Field. The events were held on May 11 and May 24, allowing hundreds of elementary, middle and high school students to attend from a variety of school districts throughout northeastern Pennsylvania.
Penn State Commonwealth Campus chancellors gathered in Harrisburg on June 6 to meet with state legislators and other government officials to showcase the impact of the University’s campuses on local communities across Pennsylvania and advocate for increased state funding for the University.
