The Faculty and Staff Campaign provides an exciting opportunity for employees to help enhance the quality of our campus’s programs and facilities through financial contributions. Employees can direct their gifts to the program of their choice through a payment option that works best for them, including payroll deductions.
Scholarship support remains a large piece of our annual fund dollars, providing financial assistance for tuition remediation to the many students who may not otherwise have the ability to attend college. This, as always, remains a key area of need at the Wilkes-Barre campus.
However, unrestricted dollars are ever more important for Penn State Wilkes-Barre, as we have all watched our budgets shrinking over time. Examples of programs that benefit from faculty and staff giving include:
- internship and job placement opportunities for students,
- athletics and extra-curricular services,
- renovations and improvements to facilities and equipment,
- research, and
- faculty and staff professional development.
In order to continue to attract the best and brightest students, faculty and staff to our campus, we must remain competitive among the many institutions of higher education in our region and beyond. We have many challenges, but we also all know that Penn State offers a unique opportunity for local students to gain access a nationally recognized institution of exceptional quality in their own back yard.
In my teaching profession, nothing gives me greater satisfaction than to see my students mature and succeed in the two or four years they spend on campus. If I can assist them on their journey, academically or financially, I've done my job.”Theresa Clemente, Assistant Teaching Professor
I give because, like many of my students, I was a first-generation college student. I know that the Annual Fund makes it possible for them to gain access to the American dream—a quality education at a great university.”Lynda Goldstein, Associate Professor
