ASCM®, the Association for Supply Chain Management (formerly APICS®), is the global leader and premier source of leading-edge knowledge in operations and supply chain management. The CPIM® designation (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) is the global standard of expertise for operations professionals. ASCM® has developed a comprehensive educational program designed for operations and supply chain professionals, and the northeastern PA campuses of Penn State are collaborating to offer these review workshops.
This program, which prepares attendees to take the CPIM® certification exam, is recommended for professionals involved in purchasing, planning, production, finance, marketing, sales, engineering, quality, and shipping/receiving. It provides professionals with the skill set necessary to understand and manage the integration and coordination of activities within today’s increasingly intricate supply chains.
Part 1: Basics of Supply Chain Management—OPMGT 5090C (32 hours)
Description: This module covers basic concepts in managing the complete flow of materials that represents a supply chain from suppliers to customers. Supply chain concepts, basic terminology and relationships among activities in the supply chain are introduced. This course is the prerequisite for APICS® CPIM® Module II.
Part 2: Comprehensive Supply Chain Training—OPMGT 5094C (40 hours)
Description: This module contains information on the following topics: Strategic Management of Resources, Master Planning of Resources, Detailed Scheduling and Planning, and Execution and Control of Operations. Topics covered will help students prepare to take the CPIM® Part 2 exam. These topics, in conjunction with Module I, comprise the APICS® CPIM® Test Prep Program.
