What is professional certification?
Professional certification validates and recognizes an individual’s existing experience, competency, knowledge, and skills to perform a specific job. The certification is earned by passing one or more exams that were developed by a professional organization or association that upholds the standards for that particular industry.
Professional certification gives potential employers confidence in your abilities and knowledge, so you’ll have a competitive advantage over candidates without certification. Certification makes you more valuable to employers, so you can expect to earn more than someone without certification; it also opens the door to advancement and management opportunities.
A non-credit professional certification preparation program is a sequence of classes that provides students with core competencies in a specific area and prepares them to take the industry’s certification exam.
