Penn State is a Project Management Institute (PMI)® Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.). We are committed to enhancing the ongoing professional development of project management stakeholders. If you have been planning to enhance your project management skills and knowledge in order to prepare for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® designation, now is the time to enroll in our program. As part of the certificate program curriculum, students will work on a project that is carried through all four required courses.

Project Management Certificate courses

To receive the Penn State Project Management Certificate, you must successfully complete the following four courses in sequential order:

PJMGT 5000— Project Initiation and Planning
The first course in the project management certificate program addresses the role of the project manager; organizational structures; the project life cycle; the project office; leadership; project selection criteria; the project planning process, objectives, scope, benefits, and strategies; as well as project planning, constraints, assumptions, exclusions, milestones, communications, and closeout criteria.

Dates: Tuesdays:  January 23rd, 30th, Feb 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th

PJMGT 5001 — Project Scheduling and Inte​gration
This dynamic, hands-on course can provide students with the knowledge and ability to take a project plan and develop a schedule of the work needed to deliver the project objectives. The students can learn about developing a work breakdown structure, developing tasks, networking these tasks together, and analyzing the resulting schedule.

Dates: Tuesdays: March 13th, 20th, 27th, (OFF April 3rd) 10th, 17th and 24th.

PJMGT 5002 — Project Costing and Control
The third course in the Project Management Certificate program focuses on selection criteria, procurement, cost estimating, and control mechanisms.

Dates: Tuesdays: May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, and June 5th.

PJMGT 5003 — Project Risk and Change Management
The final course in the Project Management Certificate program addresses risk and change management; team responsibilities; conflicts; quality; ethics; and closeout.

Dates: Tuesdays: June 19th, 26th, (OFF JULY 3rd) July 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st
