Penn State Wilkes-Barre offers numerous opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills:
Intercollegiate Leadership Wilkes-Barre
Each academic year six to eight students from the areas local colleges/universities are chosen to participate in this program sponsored by Leadership Wilkes-Barre. Its goal is to strengthen and enhance leadership skills in our future leaders of tomorrow while developing open lines of communication between the areas local colleges/universities.
Regional Leadership Conferences
During the fall and spring semesters of each academic year, ten to fifteen students from Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, and Worthington-Scranton are chosen to participate in Northeast Regional Leadership Conferences. The program's goal is to increase communication, networking, and leadership skills between the three campuses in the northeast region of the Penn State University system.
University-wide Student Leadership Conference
Prior to the fall semester, eight students from each of the University's campuses gather for an intensive skill training, team building, and leadership preparation conference held at various locations around the state.
Orientation, Open House, and Event Leaders
Students are called upon to represent Penn State Wilkes-Barre at a variety of events throughout the academic year. These include but are not limited to New Student Orientation, Penn State Wilkes-Barre Open House, Housing Day, Career Fairs, etc.
